Our History

1955
Nakamura Manufacturing founded in Tokyo by Masaya Nakamura.
Entered the amusement business with the installation of children’s wooden horse rides on a department store rooftop.
1955
Nakamura Manufacturing installed the Roadway Ride on the rooftop of the Mitsukoshi Department Store in Tokyo and subsequently began to install these at all Mitsukoshi stores.
1963
1970s

Entered the video game business by launching the popular space shooting game Galaxian

Purchased ATARI JAPAN

Changed the company name to NAMCO

1970s
1980
Launched international smash hit video game PAC-MAN™
1980
1990
NAMCO AMERICA INC. began direct sales of arcade games and NAMCO OPERATIONS INC. started amusement facility operations in the U.S.
1990
2005
NAMCO merged with Japanese toy company, Bandai, forming the new BANDAI NAMCO Group

NAMCO USA Inc. continues to grow globally, with over 1,000 amusement facilities managed world-wide.
